Early this month, Jin’s Bottle Babies, an animal rescue in Phoenix, Arizona, was informed about a pregnant cat that had been abandoned on a doorstep.

The cat’s owners assisted her throughout birth, but they were concerned because she was extremely nervous and unable to nurse her kittens. Shelbi Uyehara, the creator of Jin’s Bottle Babies, told Love Meow: “My intuition prompted me to take them in and figure out the details later.”

Brandon, the husband of Shelbi, prepared a nursery for the cat family and planned transportation to deliver them to their rescue.

As the kittens were cold when they arrived, Brandon placed them in an incubator. Once their body temperatures had stabilized, he supplemented them with a bottle and returned them to their mother, who was naturally afraid and wary from the incident.

With a peaceful chamber and a cozy, warm nest, the cat mother began to slowly unwind. “Brandon installed a webcam so he could see from a distance, and ultimately she let the kittens to nurse,” Shelbi revealed to Love Meow.

“As it turns out, the people who handed her off mid-birth (on the doorstep) have been living in their car in a park for some time. Apparently, the woman who called us found a caseworker to assist the family.”

Within a day of being indoors, the cat mother emerged from her shell and was pleased to receive help for her kittens. They were all critically malnourished and required supporting care.

“Her entire litter of six was born with low birth weights, with half of them in a highly risky zone (less than 60 grams). One was lost, but the remainder are thriving.”

Shelbi has been assisting the mother cat in keeping the kittens fed, clean, warm, and loved. Mama Marvel and her small super heroine kittens, Natasha, Shuri, Wanda, Pepper, and Jubilee, have been named after heroes from the Marvel Universe.

Marvel is a friendly cat with a loud purring mechanism. “When you enter a room where she is nursing her infants, she turns onto her back and begins to make air biscuits. She enjoys rubbing her head all over you “Love Meow shared with Shelbi.

She has come to appreciate the companionship of humans so much that she would grab for pets in the midst of nursing, a 180-degree turn from when she first arrived at the shelter.

“She is a superb mother! She only leaves the nest to use the litter box and to eat if the empty plate is in close proximity “Shelbi told Meow Love. “Even though she trusts me, she still becomes anxious when I weigh her infants. She follows me and closely observes me.”

As two of the kittens are smaller than their siblings, Marvel spends more time feeding them. Wanda, one of the infants, is the runt of the litter but a fierce warrior.

Marvel will never have to endure another pregnancy, as she will be spayed after her kittens reach maturity. She will achieve her goal of being the center of attention.

In the care of her foster family, her kittens are thriving and growing with no lack of affection or comfort.
