The Lovely Adventurers

In 2014, Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend, both avid hikers, bought Henry. Bennett went to an adoption event looking for a golden retriever mix but ended up meeting Henry instead. At barely 14 weeks of age, he already dwarfed other puppies by a factor of five. When she entered Henry’s enclosure, he flopped over her arm, curled up in her lap, and went to sleep. When she finally saw him, she realized he was ideal.

“I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike,” Bennett says of the dog. He “located the tallest, steepest rock in the area, and climbed to the top in order to peer over the precipice.” She goes on to explain that this is how he earned the nickname “little mountain goat.”

A few months ago, the couple decided to acquire a new pet. Bennett and her partner spent five months looking for a rescue cat until they settled on Baloo, a Siamese-mix. Instantly smitten with the adorable baby, Baloo wanted nothing more than to play and snuggle with Henry. Since then, Henry and Baloo have been close friends.

As soon as the best buddies started hanging together, they started taking their first trips together. Bennett was often probed on how they acclimatized Henry to Baloo. How we acclimated him to the car ride is a common topic of inquiry, as is the experience of taking a cat and a dog on the road. But he is mad about it. Bennett remarked, “He fervently desires to get outdoors. She goes on to add that Baloo would whimper outside the door if she so much as touched Henry’s leash.

Bennett is in the middle of Baloo and Henry. They couldn’t be more different in stature and temperament! It only goes to show that sometimes the most surprising pairings work out.

This is one of the rare times we get to see Henry without Baloo cuddling up next to him!

This, right here, is the ultimate summation of their bond. Baloo might easily be mistaken for a genuine hat because to his realistic appearance.
