Italy gave Dogs the green light to board regular Flights! – petcutes

It always should have been this way. Dogs are family members. They belong with their person. They are definitely more well mannered than an increasing number of human pax!
Hope all airlines adopt this policy of permitting all sizes of dogs to ride with their owners in the cabin of the plane…

Italy’s civil aviation authority approved new rules that let medium and even large dogs travel in the airplane cabin with their people.
It’s a huge change. For years, most bigger dogs had to ride in the cargo hold. Now, when an airline opts in and safety rules are met, they can stay in the cabin.

There are guardrails. Dogs must be in an approved carrier that can be secured to the seat or placed without blocking aisles or exits. Airlines can cap the number of pets on each flight and set their own extra conditions. Seats can sell out fast.

First flights with large dogs in the cabin are already rolling out in Italy. More airlines are expected to follow as they update procedures and cabins.
Why this matters is simple. Cabin travel cuts heat and cold risks, keeps families together, and lowers stress for animals and owners. It’s kinder and more transparent than sending a pet below deck.

If you plan to fly, check your airline’s policy, book early, and make sure your carrier and paperwork match the rules. Practice calm crate time before you go. A little prep goes a long way.
For a lot of dogs, “no more cargo hold” can finally be true.

About time. All airlines need to get on board with allowing pets. Dogs, cats, parrots and bunnies.
Dogs are not merchandise to be carried in the cargo area. How is it possible that there is no compassion for them and respect above all?
