The 2022 Comedy Pet Photo Awards winners and highly commended entries were revealed today. Pet and animal enthusiasts contributed more than 2,000 pictures. A monetary reward of £2,000 and the title of OVERALL WINNER were awarded to Japanese photographer Kenichi Morinaga for his image of two headless cats.
While traveling around Europe, Morinaga says he “got attracted by the antics of cats out in the streets and wanted to shoot them.” After the last two years of the epidemic, they truly cheer me up because they are so humorous, even when they are doing something serious. When I returned to Japan, I kept looking for them. This incredible competition served as a reminder that such actions by all animals are seen as amusing, adorable, and heartwarming not only in Japan but around the entire world.
As part of Morinaga’s prize for winning the competition, the Comedy Pet Photo Awards organizers gave £5,000 to Animal Friends Pet Insurance and will give another £5,000 to an animal charity of his choosing. On their website, you may see the complete gallery.

2) Dog Category Winner – Our Best Friends: ‘Nilo’s Love for Water’ by Jose Bayon

Artist Statement : Nilo is a 10-month-old dog who was adopted. He was only barely saved after being hit by a car. Now that he’s recovered, he’s just learned about water. His antics and pirouettes demonstrate his love of the water. At first sight, love.
3) All Other Creatures Category: ‘Smokin’ Alpaca’ by Stefan Brusius

4) The Mighty Horse Winner – Happy Horses by Radim Filipek

5) People’s Choice Award: ‘Dashing through the Snow’ by Marko Jovanovic

Artist Statement: In California, Carter was listed on a Euth list. We flew to California to save him from Chicago. He had never experienced snow before. As you can see, he thought he had been missing out all this time!

Artist Statement: As she worked using the wheelbarrow as a stool, Rosie tried to convince me to give her some of her favorite treats while she was assisting me in the greenhouse. Since I was a helpless servant cat with no self-control, I gave in.
